He made a phone call to show off the phone’s reinvented address book and voice mail. He sent a text and an e-mail, showing how easy it was to type on the phone’s touch-screen keyboard. He scrolled through a bunch of photos, showing how simple pinches and spreads of two fingers could make the pictures smaller or bigger. He navigated The New York Times’s and Amazon’s Web sites to show that the iPhone’s Internet browser was as good as the one on his computer. He found a Starbucks with Google Maps — and called the number from the stage — to show how it was impossible to get lost with an iPhone....

The Experiment: Crafting The Site Launching the t-shirt site was quite simple and, surprisingly, quite fun. Mirroring the aforementioned article’s strategy, I used Shopify’s amazing user interface and website design to quickly boot up a site. I know. It’s a cool word. Startup. It sounds like adventure, freedom, saying fuck you to the man and about a billion dollars. I work in a startup, and I’m an entrepreneur, but I want to make one thing clear. Not everything has to be a Goddamn startup. I’ve seen ’em all. I’ve seen folks with T-sh...  ...Read more

You’ve probably heard the terms UX and CX, and how they’re the key to your company’s success. Many still aren’t clear, however about what the difference is between the two concepts. Perhaps you’re under the impression that only one of them is worth investing in, or that they’re both the same thin...  ...Read more

It’s not about the slide deck. We have made the decision to invest in entrepreneurs without slides, whose ambition, passion, depth of understanding of a opportunity and compelling vision come through crystal-clear in conversation. But…that’s a high bar for communication. Most of the time, put...  ...Read more

Since becoming the High Priest of Profit, the Reverend of Revenue, the Bishop of being in the black, I’ve opened myself up to a long line of founders making startup confessionals. These confessionals seem to be accelerating of late and tend to share a similar tone: I hired too fast. I overspent...  ...Read more
