This is a good thing, and I’m looking forward to it. At first, AI meeting bots will reduce the cognitive load we put into the mechanics of being in a meeting. People will be able to focus on what’s important: being in the meeting.
But that’s just the start. Meeting bots will begin to do things for us that we can’t do ourselves. They will eventually anticipate our needs, and understand interpersonal and even company-wide dynamics.
Getting from Here to There
We’re not going to have mind-reading meeting bots tomorrow. The intelligence needs to evolve, through five broad stages:
Level 1: Command and Control
At first, we will get meeting bots that remind us of the command-and-control bots we’re using already, We’ll be able to tell a bot, “Join the meeting,” and it will do the setup for us, so we don’t have to push buttons.
